Dr Kate Benson is a Consultant Endocrinologist with over fifteen years experience in specialist private practice as well as hospital practice.
She graduated from The University of Sydney with First Class Honours in 1994. Kate completed Physician’s training at Concord Hospital and was a VMO there until 2020. She also has appointments at The Sydney Adventist Hospital , North Shore Private Hospital and The Mater Hospital Sydney. She now enjoys contributing to Rural Health and visits The Orange Specialist Centre on a regular basis. She also participates in Fly in Fly out clinics as well as Telehealth to Brewarrina and Bourke through the University of Sydney Poche Centre for Indigenous Health.
Kate has been a Clinical Senior Lecturer at The University of Sydney for ten years, with active involvement in teaching medical students at the Sydney Adventist Hospital Campus. Over the years she has enjoyed participating in Registrar teaching also.
Kate enjoys the breadth of Endocrine practice including Diabetes, Bone and Calcium disorders, Thyroid disease, Pituitary and Adrenal disorders, and Reproductive Endocrinology including disorders of Pregnancy. She has particular expertise in the management of Type 1 Diabetes and has coordinated a multidisciplinary Insulin Pump Clinic for over 15 years.
Kate has research experience in the Calcium and Bone field and has published various papers in peer reviewed journals. She is a Reviewer for the RACP Internal Medicine Journal. She enjoys active participation in the Endocrine Society of Australia, the Sydney Pituitary Group and The Sydney Bone Group.
Kate is passionate about providing comprehensive and evidence based care in a supportive and caring clinical environment.
