What Is a Specialist Referral?

A specialist referral is a document provided by a GP that allows you to book an appointment with a medical specialist such as a dermatologist or cardiologist. Thus, referrals are generally required for Medicare benefits and help ensure your care is properly coordinated and aligned with your medical condition.

How it Works

• Select the 'Specialist Referral' service.
• Fill in a short pre-consultation questionnaire.
• Schedule a telehealth appointment with one of our GPs.
• The doctor will assess your request and determine whether a referral is clinically appropriate.
• If a referral is issued, you'll receive it by email as a PDF ready to share with your specialist.

Please note: Specialist referrals are issued only if deemed clinically appropriate by the consulting doctor. Not all consultations result in a referral.
